CARNEGIE BUILDING LOBBY & GROUND FLOOR RESTORATION
The Pennsylvania State University - University Park, PA

Renovations at the Carnegie Building in 2001 included the central lobby, a traditional conference room and the creation of a student activity center in the circa 1903 library, a gift from Andrew Carnegie. The design recognizes the original features of the structure, and compatible new finishes, colors, and lighting were provided. The Carnegie Ground Floor renovation removes the detritus of 103 years of use and restores the integrity of ground floor spaces by recognizing the properties of the existing building fabric, improving circulation and increasing daylight distribution. What had been dark rooms, sound booths and film labs became well-lit faculty offices, conference & seminar rooms and technology labs.
